Sze Fei-Izzuddin end season on disappointing note

The world No 4 pair have won only one title this year after failing to make it to the final of the Australian Open.

Men’s doubles shuttlers Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani ended their season on a disappointing note after they lost in the semi-finals of the Australian Open, the penultimate tournament for this year.

Sze Fei-Izzuddin, ranked world No 4, are already out of the season-ending World Tour Finals, to be played in China next month.

The Malaysians were outplayed by up-and-coming Indonesian pair Raymond Indra-Nikolaus Joaquin in Sydney this morning, losing 15-21, 15-21 in 42 minutes .

It was their first encounter against the 32nd ranked Indonesians, who are both aged 20. Sze Fei and Izzuddin are 28.

Sze Fei-Izzuddin took home US$6,650 (RM27,484) as semi-finalists in the World Tour Super 500 championships.

They have only won the India Open this year, after entering two finals and four semi-finals.
