AGC rejects teen’s review bid in fatal crash case

The 17-year-old boy had sought a review of the charges against him over an incident that killed three people in March.

The Attorney-General’s Chambers has rejected a representation by a 17-year-old boy seeking a review of the charges against him over a car crash that claimed three lives in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan in March.

Harian Metro reported that deputy public prosecutor P Rubini informed magistrate Saiful Sayoti of the matter today when the case was mentioned again in the Seremban magistrates’ court.

The teenager arrived at the court today dressed in black and in a wheelchair, accompanied by his family and relatives.

He is accused of causing the deaths of Aidil Ramdan Abdullah, 15, Aswari Lotpi, 16, and Aisar Azim Abdullah, 17, by driving dangerously at a traffic light junction on Jalan Persiaran Senawang 1.

The charge was framed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, punishable by five to 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine of RM20,000 to RM50,000, upon conviction.

The teenager was also charged under Section 26(1) of the same law for driving without a licence, which carries a fine of RM300 to RM2,000, up to three months’ imprisonment, or both, upon conviction.
