KDM to field 40 candidates in Sabah polls

Acting party president Priscella Peter will make her electoral debut in this state election.

PETALING JAYA:
Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) has unveiled 39 of its 40 candidates for the 17th Sabah state election.

The name of the last candidate, slated for the Kemabong seat, will be made known on Friday.

In an announcement issued today, the party said its acting president Priscella Peter will vie for the Melalap seat previously held by her father Peter Anthony, who also founded the party.

Peter won the seat in 2018 and retained it in the 2020 state polls. He is currently serving a three-year prison sentence for forgery.

This will be 27-year-old Priscella’s first time contesting in an election. She replaced her father as KDM president when he began his jail sentence in March this year.

KDM deputy president Wetrom Bahanda, who previously held the Bandau seat, will now contest in Matunggong.

Party vice-president Henry Saimpon, a former professional footballer, will vie for the Kiulu seat, which had been held by Parti Bersatu Sabah information chief Joniston Bangkuai since 2013.
