Supreme Council member Razali Idris said all top leaders are fully focused on helping Perikatan Nasional win the coming Sabah state election.
Razali said the party’s internal disputes are expected to be resolved after the state polls.
“All Supreme Council members have agreed to resolve the party’s internal crisis harmoniously once the Sabah election concludes,” he told reporters after the state-level National Environment Day celebration in Kuala Nerus, Terengganu, today.
On Tuesday, PAS vice-president Amar Nik Abdullah said he hoped Bersatu’s issues will be resolved quickly to avoid impacting PN, especially ahead of the Sabah state election.
He noted that Bersatu’s internal turmoil could, to some extent, affect other component parties within the coalition, including PAS.
Bersatu has been facing escalating tensions following the sacking of Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan and the suspension of Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, amid an apparent leadership feud between president Muhyiddin Yassin and deputy Hamzah Zainudin.
Its disciplinary board has also expelled four division chiefs – Azrudin Idris (Hang Tuah Jaya), Faizal Asmar (Pengerang), Fadhli Ismail (Ipoh Timur) and Isa Saidi (Ampang).
The move has triggered unease among party members, with 16 Bersatu MPs signing a letter dated Oct 23 urging Muhyiddin to address what they described as “internal issues” to prevent the party from “falling victim to the ego of any individual leader”.
On Tuesday, the Supreme Council unanimously agreed to work collectively to resolve the internal bickering “based on mutual respect and good understanding, with a firm commitment to upholding the party constitution”.
