PETALING JAYA:
Malaysia has banned the sale and distribution of a popular inhaler from Thailand, which Thai authorities had recalled with immediate effect due to microbial contamination.

In a statement, the health ministry said the “Hong Thai Formula 2” inhaler had not been registered with the drug control authority.

“The sale and possession of unregistered medicines constitute an offence under the Control of Drugs and Cosmetics Regulations,” it said.

The health ministry’s ban comes days after Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration recalled the product for failing health quality tests.

According to the ministry, “Hong Thai Formula 2” is advertised and sold on several e-commerce platforms.

“We have submitted complaints to the respective platforms, requesting that they remove the product listings immediately.”

It also advised the public against purchasing the product and to immediately stop using it.
