Penang executive councillor Zairil Khir Johari said plastic barriers have been set up at the site, while vehicles are being redirected through Jalan Sungai Ara 1, Jalan Persiaran Relau and Jalan Kedidi.
“Utility companies, including the Penang Water Supply Corporation and Indah Water Konsortium, are conducting an inspection of the piping systems under their supervision.
“An investigation and monitoring works are ongoing to identify the cause of the cave-in and determine follow-up action,” he said in a statement today.
Zairil urged the public to remain patient and cooperate with the authorities as they work to resolve the issue swiftly and ensure public safety.
The cave-in occurred along the stretch of the road opposite SMK Sungai Ara.
