Cave-in reported on Penang’s Jalan Kenari

No casualties have been reported and the road has been temporarily closed.

Part of Jalan Kenari near the Jalan Dato Ismail Hashim junction in Sungai Ara, Bayan Lepas, here, collapsed this afternoon.

Penang executive councillor Zairil Khir Johari said his office was alerted to the cave-in and a team from the state’s public works department was headed to the site to carry out emergency mitigation works to ensure road users’ safety.

“The public is advised to be careful and follow the instructions of the personnel on site,” he said in a Facebook post.

It is understood that no casualties were reported and the road has been temporarily closed.

The cave-in occurred on the stretch of road in front of KFC Desa Riang, opposite SMK Sungai Ara.

Bayan Lepas assemblyman Azrul Mahathir Aziz was also present at the location of the cave-in.
