The ministry acknowledged a statement made earlier today by Iman’s family over the 10-year-old’s death on Oct 1, and called for “every element linked to the incident” to be thoroughly probed.
“At this moment, the case is still under investigation by the police.
“Stern action must be taken on anyone found guilty. Justice must be served for the family of Iman,” it said in a brief statement.
On Oct 14, Negeri Sembilan police chief Alzafny Ahmad said the investigation into Iman’s death had been completed with the probe paper submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for further action.
He said the probe was thorough, with 49 witnesses having given their statements, and also involved Bukit Aman’s forensic investigation and behavioural science units.
Iman was found unconscious in the school toilet on Oct 1 and taken to a private clinic where he was pronounced dead. A post-mortem determined the cause of death to be compression to the neck, with no other injuries found on the body.
Earlier today, a lawyer acting for his family demanded an inquest to determine the boy’s cause of death, expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of feedback from the police, the AGC, and the education ministry more than a month after his death.
The lawyer, Yazid Salim, said the family has only received information from the pathologist, who conducted the post-mortem.
