PETALING JAYA:
A Malaysian man who was shot eight times in southern Thailand last night has died from his injuries, his family said.

A Narathiwat police spokesman said information obtained from witnesses at the scene indicated that the attack may have been related to a debt dispute.

Fuad Fahmie Ghazali, 33, of Kampung Kepas Apam in Pasir Mas, Kelantan, was pronounced dead at 9pm while receiving treatment at Sungai Golok Hospital, Sinar Harian reported.

It said the shooting occurred at about 6.40pm at a house in Sungai Golok, a border town near Kelantan.

Fuad’s mother, Zaiton Abdul Rahman, 64, said she was told at about 8pm her son had been shot eight times.

“An hour later, I received another call saying he had passed away,” she was quoted as saying.

Kelantan police chief Yusoff Mamat confirmed the incident with Bernama.
