Takiyuddin, who is Perikatan Nasional chief whip, said he has been given seven days to respond to the motion, which seeks to refer him to the rights and privileges committee.
He said he will reply next week. “I will submit my answer to the Dewan Rakyat Speaker. It is up to the Speaker to decide what to do next,” Harian Metro reported him as saying.
Takiyuddin said the issue had been resolved following an explanation on the matter by home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. He said he hoped the incident would not be repeated.
On Monday, Pulai MP Suhaizan Kaiat of Pakatan Harapan said Takiyuddin’s comments during the budget debate were misleading, extreme and based on false or unchecked facts.
Takiyuddin had alleged that 10 to 15 men in five cars had “stormed” into Masjid Rusila in a suspicious manner last month.
Takiyuddin also claimed that the men acted without the mosque’s permission and questioned whether this was a repeat of the 1985 Memali incident.
Saifuddin then said the matter was a misunderstanding that had been resolved by the authorities. He said only six MMEA personnel had stopped by the mosque to perform their Asar prayers during a training exercise.
