Machang Bersatu division chief Kamaruddin Kadir said Wan Fayhsal should be thankful to Muhyiddin as the president had given him special treatment not afforded to the party’s division chiefs.
“In the 15th general election, Muhyiddin gave him the opportunity to contest and win in Machang, a safe seat.
“As an ordinary member, he was given special treatment not afforded to division chiefs, who know how hard it is to build up a division and recruit members on the ground,” he said in a statement today.
Kamaruddin said it was malicious of Wan Fayhsal to claim that the party polls were dirty and said he should not have attacked Muhyiddin, having received his seat from the president without having to put in the work.
“He should be grateful to the president. Wan Fayhsal has no right to say the president is not suitable to be prime minister, as he himself did not put in the work to set up even a single Bersatu Youth branch in Machang.
“As Bersatu Youth chief and Machang MP, he should have built up the wing in Machang by setting up as many branches as possible, making it an example for the nation,” he said.
In February, Wan Fayhsal lost his bid for the Machang Bersatu division chief post to incumbent Kamaruddin. He received only 26 votes against Kamaruddin’s 103.
He was recently suspended for violating the party’s code of conduct, amid internal leadership turmoil that also saw Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan sacked from the party.
The party’s disciplinary board also expelled four division chiefs – Azrudin Idris (Hang Tuah Jaya), Faizal Asmar (Pengerang), Fadhli Ismail (Ipoh Timur) and Isa Saidi (Ampang).
