PETALING JAYA:
Police arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly causing a ruckus at a temple in Ampang, Selangor, yesterday morning while under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Ampang Jaya police chief Azam Ismail said a Rela volunteer on duty had heard a commotion at a restaurant inside the temple compound and found the suspect, who appeared drunk, rambling to himself.

The man was asked to be quiet or leave but refused. The suspect then pushed over an incense holder, prompting the Rela member to detain him before calling police around 9am.

Azam said the suspect had eight previous offences for narcotics. He also tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine.

“The suspect committed mischief at a house of worship while under the influence of drugs and alcohol.”

A remand application will be made today at the Ampang magistrates’ court, he said in a statement.

The case is being probed under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief, which is punishable by up to two years in prison, a fine, or both if convicted.
