
Harian Metro reported that Vun Lee Fon, 46, pleaded not guilty after the charges against her were read before judge Khairi Haron.
According to the first charge, the mother of two is accused of throwing Molotov cocktails at two vehicles belonging to two women, aged 25 and 61 years old, respectively, causing over RM70,000 in total losses.
The offences were allegedly committed at a home on Jalan Haji Hassan Nindung in Muar, Johor, at 12.52pm, on Sept 5.
She was charged under Section 435 of the Penal Code with mischief by fire, which provides for up to 14 years’ imprisonment and a fine if convicted.
The prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutor Diyana Najihah Fauzi, while Lee was unrepresented.
The court set bail at RM20,000 for both charges and ordered her to report to a nearby police station once a month until the disposal of the case.
It set Dec 9 for the case to be mentioned again with the handover of documents and appointment of a lawyer.
Lee also pleaded not guilty in the magistrates’ court to the criminal intimidation of a 39-year-old man at the same place and time, under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
Magistrate Kartini Kasran set bail at RM5,000 and for the case to be mentioned again on Dec 9.
Vun was previously charged in the Kluang sessions court on Sept 22 with setting fire to two cars in the same month.
