PETALING JAYA:
Azani Omar, the former police aide-de-camp to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, has been appointed the new Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief effective today.

Azani, 51, from Kelantan, replaces Usuf Jan, who retired upon reaching the compulsory retirement age today.

The handover of duties at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters was witnessed by Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus and attended by senior police officers and personnel.

The ceremony also saw the handover of duties for the position of Kuala Lumpur commercial crime investigation department chief from Anuwal Ab Wahab to Wong Yuen Chuan, as well as the Dang Wangi police chief from Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman to Sazalee Adam.

Sulizmie will begin his new posting as the police aide-de-camp to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim.

Fadil said the promotions reflected recognition of the officers’ hard work, commitment and contributions to the police and country.

Usuf, who retired after 37 years in the force, said his career had been filled with invaluable memories.

“Throughout my service, I experienced many highs and lows together with the force, and those memories are something I can never forget,” he said.
