Speaking at a press conference after the protest outside the embassy, Afnan said “not a single officer dared come out” to receive the memorandum.
“We consider it a sign of fear on the part of the US embassy, afraid to accept a piece of paper,” he said.
Afnan also said the US authorities were afraid of the growing number of countries uniting against the genocide in Palestine.
An estimated 700 people took part in the protest ahead of US president Donald Trump’s expected visit to Malaysia on Sunday for the 47th Asean Summit.
Amid heavy police presence, including the Federal Reserve Unit, the protesters were heard chanting “Reject Donald Trump”, with some carrying placards telling him to “go home”.
The participants, including several carrying Palestinian flags, also chanted “Long live Hezbollah” and “Long live Hamas”.
Afnan said their dissatisfaction stemmed from the US’s support for Israel, and Trump’s warning that he would destroy Hamas if it were to break the ceasefire agreement.
He said PAS would join the next protest planned for Oct 26, the day Trump arrives in Kuala Lumpur.
Separately, PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari accused Putrajaya of “rushing to welcome” Trump.
“Rejecting (Trump) does not mean we are severing diplomatic ties with the US. It means we are in solidarity with the people of Palestine,” he said.
