Anwar said the signing will follow a series of meetings held in Kuala Lumpur involving the defence ministers, foreign ministers and armed forces chiefs of both countries.
“If both sides agree within the next day or two, the signing will be witnessed by myself and US president Donald Trump – who also supports this resolution – in conjunction with the 47th Asean Summit,” he said in the Dewan Rakyat.
Thailand and Cambodia have a long history of diplomatic rows over an 817km stretch of their shared border.
Tensions between the two Asean nations erupted on May 28 after a Cambodian soldier was killed in a clash near the disputed Preah Vihear border area, about 360km from Bangkok.
Thailand and Cambodia agreed to an unconditional ceasefire on July 28 following a meeting held in Putrajaya, chaired by Anwar.
Anwar previously said the meeting’s success had elevated Malaysia’s global standing and drawn praise from world leaders such as Trump, who personally contacted him to express appreciation for Putrajaya’s efforts in resolving the conflict.
He also said Malaysia, which chairs Asean this year, wanted to help resolve the conflict between the two Southeast Asian countries to ensure peace and stability in the region.
