PETALING JAYA:
The Selangor government says any demolition carried out in Kampung Jalan Papan, Klang, will only involve vacant houses and business premises.

State housing and culture committee chairman Borhan Aman Shah said stakeholders had agreed on this at a meeting chaired by menteri besar Amirudin Shari on Tuesday, Bernama reported.

He also said demolition work would be carried out in stages.

Earlier today, residents of Kampung Jalan Papan urged Amirudin to intervene and halt the demolition of their homes on Oct 26 and Oct 27.

They also wanted the eviction notice cancelled.

In a memorandum by the Jalan Papan Pandamaran residents association, they called for Amirudin to enforce the decision by the Selangor Economic Action Council in 2018, which stipulated that they should be offered new homes.

The group also alleged that they were served with an eviction notice on Oct 21, despite obtaining a temporary stay order in 2021.

The memorandum, which was submitted to Amirudin earlier today, also called for a three-way negotiation between the residents group and the two developers.
