Issa, an international sports body under the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), was established in 1985 to promote solidarity, friendship and cooperation among Muslim nations through sports.
It serves as a platform to strengthen unity and advance sports development across the Islamic world.
In a statement, OCM said Issa has entrusted Norza with leading the newly established ethics commission in recognition of his extensive experience, integrity and commitment to ethical governance in sport.
The commission will be responsible for overseeing matters related to ethical conduct and governance within the Islamic sports movement, ensuring the sustainability, credibility and integrity of initiatives such as the Islamic Solidarity Games – a major event that continues to draw strong participation from all 57 Issa members.
OCM added that Norza’s appointment reflects Malaysia’s growing reputation for leadership in sports governance and its active role in promoting integrity and ethical standards at the international level.
Norza’s appointment was personally endorsed by Issa president Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al-Faisal, who is also the president of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Saudi Arabia’s sports minister.
Currently the vice-president of the Olympic Council of Asia for the Southeast Asia zone, Norza also holds several key positions in world badminton – such as honorary life president of the Badminton Association of Malaysia, honorary president of Badminton Asia, and council member of the Badminton World Federation.
