7 hurt as express bus catches fire after collision with lorry

The accident occurred at KM78.7 of the northbound North-South Expressway near Batu Pahat last night.

Seven passengers escaped with minor injuries after the express bus they were travelling in caught fire following a collision with a lorry last night at KM78.7 of the northbound North-South Expressway (PLUS) near Batu Pahat, Johor.

Ayer Hitam fire and rescue station operations commander Nazrul Yusri Yusof said they received a call about the accident at 11.17pm and arrived at the scene 18 minutes later, Bernama reported.

He said the express bus had caught fire after colliding with a five-tonne lorry.

Nazrul said there were seven male victims, including the bus driver, aged between 23 and 48.

All sustained minor injuries and had already exited the vehicle before the firemen arrived.

The 35-year-old lorry driver was not injured.
