PETALING JAYA:
Singaporean authorities collected more than $619,000 (RM2.02 million) in outstanding summonses from 241 foreign motorists during an operation conducted from Oct 6-9 at the nation’s two land checkpoints.

During the multi-agency enforcement operation, foreign motorists with outstanding fines were stopped and directed to settle their fines for vehicular and traffic offences upon entering Singapore.

The operation was led by the city-state’s traffic police and supported by several agencies, including the immigration and checkpoints authority (ICA), land transport authority (LTA), housing development board (HDB), and the urban redevelopment authority (URA).

In a joint statement published on the Singapore police website yesterday, the agencies said they took a serious view of foreign motorists who commit offences but fail to settle their fines.

Regular enforcement operations are carried out, and motorists with outstanding fines for traffic, parking or vehicular emissions offences may be denied entry into Singapore.

Authorities reminded all foreign motorists to observe traffic laws, adhere to speed limits, obey traffic signals, pay parking and ERP charges, and ensure their vehicles comply with emissions standards.

Foreigners driving into Singapore are encouraged to check for any outstanding fines at www.axs.com.sg and make payments via AXS kiosks, the AXS website or app, or the respective agencies’ service counters.
