Noor Iskandar Aziz, 44, Najmi Mu’az Pekan, 34, and Amir Hafizi Anuar, 29, entered their pleas before judge Rosli Ahmad.
At the time of the offences, Iskandar was serving as a marketing officer at Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd’s Putrajaya branch. He faces 10 charges of receiving RM94,173 in bribes from CSA Infinite Consultancy, Ong Kim Hock, Ong Mun Ho, Lim Kim Yen and Anas Syazwan Abd Samad.
Najmi, who was then a consumer financing executive at Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd’s PKNS, Shah Alam, branch, faces two charges of accepting RM5,567 in bribes from JWW Titans Trading and Lim.
Amir, a marketing officer at Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd’s Kajang branch at the time, faces seven charges of receiving RM37,347.76 in bribes from CSA Infinite, JZ Solution and Lim.
The bribes were allegedly paid as a reward for helping to process personal loan applications for CSA Infinite’s clients, who were simultaneously submitting similar applications to several financial institutions.
This resulted in the clients obtaining multiple loans that exceeded their eligibility limits.
Separately, Syazwan Akmal Badran, 33, pleaded not guilty before judge Azura Alwi to eight charges of receiving RM42,681.63 in bribes from JWW Titans, CSA Infinite, Lim and JZ Solution for the same purpose while serving as a marketing officer at Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd’s Petaling Jaya branch.
All offences were allegedly committed at Maybank and RHB Bank branches in Shah Alam and Kuala Lumpur between Oct 5, 2021, and July 5, 2024.
The charges were framed under Section 16(a)(A) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 and are punishable under subsection 24(1) of the same Act.
If convicted, the accused face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine five times the amount of the bribe, or RM10,000, whichever is higher.
The court granted bail to all four accused, set between RM10,000 and RM25,000 each, with one surety.
The court also required them to surrender their passports, report to the MACC office once a month and refrain from contacting prosecution witnesses.
Rosli fixed Nov 20 for mention of Iskandar’s case and Dec 10 for the cases involving Najmi Mu’az and Amir. Azura set Dec 3 for Syazwan’s case.
The prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutors Nurul Izzati Sapifee, M Esther Jacyntha, and Nidzuwan Abd Latip.
Syazwan was unrepresented, while the other three accused were represented by lawyers A Rayveni, Hakeem Aiman Affandi and Humaidi Zulkifli.
