Sabah Umno information chief Suhaimi Nasir said the posters were part of an attempt by certain quarters to confuse voters and disrupt the coalition’s election machinery.
“They (opponents) know that BN has a strong, highly disciplined election machinery as well as candidates of calibre to the point where BN’s potential of winning is high,” he said in a statement.
“It is unsurprising that certain quarters have sought to disrupt the election process. We are not only ready (for the polls) but stronger.
“BN will not be swayed by false propaganda. We will instead focus on our work, candidates and people.”
Suhaimi, who is also Libaran MP, urged Sabahans not to be misled by false information or recycled posters.
He called on Sabahans to continue backing BN, citing its proven leadership, stability and track record of tangible development.
The Sabah Umno information chief also said BN was fully prepared with a line-up that includes 80% new faces, including youths and professionals.
Checks by FMT found that the Sabah BN leaders featured in the viral posters included Kimanis MP and deputy foreign minister Mohamad Alamin, former Pitas assemblyman Bolkiah Ismail and Sepanggar Umno information chief Fadilah Sarbi.
Meanwhile, BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said they will announce the list of candidates a week before nomination day on Nov 15.
“We won’t contest all 73 seats and will focus only on certain areas,” he said.
