
In a Facebook post, TNB said the electricity supply to the affected areas had been fully restored at of 5.54pm.
“TNB thanks all affected customers for their patience and apologises for the inconvenience caused by the disruption,” it said.
Earlier today, TNB said the power disruption was due to issues at the Edra power plant in Melaka.
It is understood that the power plant is operated by a subsidiary of Edra Power Holdings Sdn Bhd, an international independent power producer.
FMT had reported that several areas in the Klang Valley had been hit by a power outage.
According to netizens, the areas that experienced blackouts included Section 8 in Petaling Jaya, Universiti Malaya, Bukit Damansara, and Mont Kiara.
Other social media users on X said Mid Valley Megamall, Pavilion Damansara, and TRX were also affected.
Some netizens also claimed they experienced power outages in Johor Bahru, Melaka, Ipoh, Kuantan and Sendayan.
In a statement, Edra Power Holdings said the power plant tripped following a lightning strike during heavy rain and thunderstorms.
It said immediate recovery efforts were initiated to safely restore power generation and that the plant had since resumed operations.
“Preventive steps are also being reviewed to further minimise the risk of future disruptions,” it said.
“We assure the public that every necessary measure is being taken to rectify the situation, safeguard system stability and restore reliable power supply at the earliest opportunity.”
