PETALING JAYA: National women’s doubles shuttlers Pearly Tan-M Thinaah kept up their momentum by cruising into the second round of the Denmark Open with an easy win over an unranked Indonesian pair.
World No 2 pair Pearly-Thinaah, who captured the Arctic Open title on Sunday, defeated Febi Setianingrum-Rachel Allessya Rose 21-13, 21-17 in 35 minutes at the Arena Fyn in Odense, Denmark.
The Malaysians, who were runners-up in the World Championships, will face a tougher challenge tomorrow when they meet Japan’s new pairing of Arisa Igarashi-Chiharu Shida.
Pearly-Thinaah have won two titles this year, after entering six finals. Besides the Arctic Open crown, they bagged the Thailand Open title in May.
