SRC International’s counsel Kwan Will Sen informed Justice Raja Ahmad Mohzanuddin Shah Raja Mohzan that Ihsan Perdana managing director Shamsul Anwar Sulaiman was unavailable as he had been hospitalised.
“Yesterday evening, we were given a medical certificate and a photo showing that he has in fact been admitted due to Influenza A.
“The fear is there are potentially some complications to his heart. Hence, he is undergoing procedures,” said Kwan.
He added that the next witness, former SRC International director Suboh Yassin, who is in Johor, could be called to testify in the afternoon.
However, the judge said doing so would force the 74-year-old witness to rush from Johor and might affect his preparations. He also said he had another case scheduled for later today.
Raja Ahmad then urged both sides to plan their witnesses more efficiently.
“I would like to remind counsel to make sure you are ready with your witnesses.
“If the first and second witnesses cannot make it, the third or the fourth will take the stand,” he said.
The next hearing has been fixed for Nov 6.
SRC International and its subsidiary, Gandingan Mentari Sdn Bhd, are suing the former prime minister to recover RM42 million allegedly misappropriated from the company’s accounts.
In August 2022, Najib was convicted of seven charges involving abuse of power, money laundering and criminal breach of trust related to SRC International funds.
His original sentence of 12 years’ jail and a RM210 million fine was reduced to six years and RM50 million following a royal pardon.
