Cop tells of discovery of pistol in black bag

The raiding officer says the firearm was found in the boot of a white car.

A police officer told the sessions court today  he was informed about the discovery of a pistol inside a black backpack during a raid on a house at Kampung Bukit Belimbing in Kuala Selangor on March 29 last year.

Wan Ibrahim Rosli, the raiding officer from the Selangor contingent police headquarters, said he was notified by his superior officer, Khairulazizi Ismail, about the discovery after an inspection was carried out in the boot of a car parked outside the house, Bernama reported.

Earlier, Wan Ibrahim, 34, said he and a team from Bukit Aman CID’s D9 unit, led by Khairulazizi, were instructed to arrest a man, Abdul Azim Yasin, 44, who is the husband of the accused, Sharifah Faraha Syed Husin, 42, in Kuala Selangor.

Following the arrest, Azim led them to a house in the same district for further inspection. Sharifah Faraha followed behind in the car driven by a police officer.

Wan Ibrahim said that upon arrival, he entered the house with Azim to question him on a case investigated by the Dang Wangi district police headquarters. In the meantime, Khairulazizi, who was with Sharifah Faraha, inspected the car.

“At first, I wasn’t involved in the inspection (if the car). However, after the discovery of the pistol, I went to look at the car and the evidence found inside a black bag in the boot,” he said.

He was responding to deputy public prosecutor Nor Hakimi Rosedin on the fourth day of the trial of Sharifah Faraha, who is accused of possessing a pistol believed to have been supplied to an Israeli national.

On April 8 last year, Sharifah Faraha had pleaded not guilty to possessing a Luger pistol at a house in Kampung Bukit Belimbing, Kuala Selangor, at 8pm on March 29, 2024.

The charge, framed under Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971, carries a maximum 14-year jail term and not less than six strokes of the cane upon conviction.

On June 5, 2025, Azim was sentenced to 10 years in prison and six strokes of the cane by the same court after pleading guilty to a charge of being with Sharifah Faraha under circumstances that gave reasonable grounds to believe he knew she was in possession of the firearm.

On Feb 26, Israeli national Avitan Shalom was sentenced to seven years in prison by the Kajang sessions court after pleading guilty to possessing 200 bullets and six firearms.

Avitan, 39, committed the offence at a hotel room on Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, between 6.46pm on March 26 and 6pm on March 28 last year.

Sharifah Faraha was represented by lawyer Radzuan Ibrahim.

The trial before judge Nurul Mardhiah Redza.continues on Oct 17.
