Man drowns while swimming in Kuala Kubu Bharu river

The body was found about 25m from where the 21-year-old was reported to have been swept away by currents.

PETALING JAYA:
A 21-year-old man drowned while swimming in a river in Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor, this morning.

The fire and rescue department launched a search for the victim after he went missing in the river near the Air Luit Pertak campsite at about 9.45am.

Selangor fire and rescue department deputy operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said divers deployed to the scene found the body at about 11.45am.

The body was found at a depth of 5m about 25m from where he was reported to have been swept away by currents.

“Medical officers confirmed that the victim had died,” Mukhlis said.
