The Sabah PN chairman said the coalition was keeping the door open to negotiations on alliances despite its preliminary decision to go on its own, citing the state’s dynamic political landscape.
“For now, we have decided to go solo, but Sabah politics is very dynamic. We are not closing the door to partnerships with any party,” he told FMT.
Kiandee said the departure of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) and the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) simply proved the drastic changes that can happen in Sabah politics in a short period of time.
“Last month, GRS had eight components. Now it has six. So PN has nothing against discussing alliances with any party. Whether a pact is forged is another thing altogether,” said the Bersatu vice-president.
He said seat negotiations among the PN component parties have more or less been completed, with the top leadership to announce the exact allocations soon.
He also expressed confidence in receiving the support of Sabahans, pointing out that PN had won 17 seats in the 2020 state election.
At the time, GRS chairman Hajiji Noor was Sabah Bersatu chief, while STAR was a PN component.
