
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the funds will be used to enhance high-performance sports programmes, including Road to Gold, as well as preparations for the 2027 SEA Games and Asean Para Games to be hosted by Malaysia.
He said the allocation will also support efforts to empower para-athletes and promote deaf sports, as well as the maintenance and upgrading of youth and sports facilities nationwide.
“The funds will also be used to upgrade school fields under the education ministry across the country,” he said.
Anwar praised the nation’s athletes, including shuttlers Chen Tang Jie, Toh Ee Wei, Pearly Tan and M Thinaah, as well as para long jump champion Abdul Latif Romly, for their outstanding achievements.
He said their dedication and success have brought immense pride to Malaysia and inspired the spirit of unity and excellence among the people.
