Man jailed 5 months for stomping on nephew’s head

Norasmad Hussin is said to have committed the offence after accusing the 10-year old boy of stealing his lighter.

KUALA LUMPUR:
The magistrates’ court in Selayang has sentenced a 36-year-old man to five months’ jail after he pleaded guilty to assaulting his 10-year-old nephew by stomping on his head.

Magistrate Sabreena Bakar @ Bahari handed down the sentence on Norasmad Hussin following his guilty plea.

Norasmad was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code with voluntarily causing hurt, which carries a maximum one-year jail term, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.

According to the facts of the case, he committed the offence at an apartment in Batu Caves after accusing the boy of stealing his lighter.

In the incident on May 26, the boy’s mother scolded the accused for his action, prompting him to threaten her and her children with a knife.

The 32-year-old woman, who sells headscarves, lodged a police report, leading to Norasmad’s arrest.

Deputy public prosecutor Iqbal Azman appeared for the prosecution, while lawyer Izleen Ismail represented Norasmad.
