PETALING JAYA:
The man whose body was found in a suitcase, with slash marks on his neck and hands bound, in Butterworth, Penang, yesterday has been identified.

The victim was identified as Lee Boon Han, 31, an insurance agent who had been reported missing since Oct 8 after having allegedly gone to Perlis for a work trip and becoming uncontactable, Sinar Harian reported.

Lee’s 69-year-old father, a trader, who lodged a police report, was seen at Seberang Jaya Hospital’s forensic unit at about 9am today to identify the body.

He confirmed his son’s identity with a nod to his family after exiting the room, but refused to speak to the media and requested that their privacy be respected.

It was reported yesterday that police were investigating the discovery of a body stuffed into a suitcase near the Ampang Jajar flats on Jalan Permatang Pauh.

Seberang Perai Utara police chief Anuar Abd Rahman said they received a report about the discovery from the public at about 1.45pm.

It is understood that the victim’s head was covered in plastic.
