Wagyu House director charged with falsifying company documents

The Companies Commission of Malaysia says Thomas Chan is accused of forging signatures on a resignation letter and share transfer documents.

The Kuala Lumpur High Court has allowed Wagyu House Malaysia Sdn Bhd director Thomas Chan bail of RM20,000.
PETALING JAYA:
A director of Wagyu House Malaysia Sdn Bhd has pleaded not guilty at the Kuala Lumpur High Court to two charges of falsifying information in the company’s statutory documents relating to the resignation of a director and share transfers.

The Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) said Thomas Chan allegedly forged signatures on a resignation letter and share transfer documents.

“The accused was also charged with instructing the company secretary to prepare and submit to him information related to the change of company director and share transfers,” SSM said in a statement today.

Both charges are framed under Section 591(2)(a) of the Companies Act 2016, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years, a fine not exceeding RM3 million, or both, upon conviction.

Judge Siti Shakirah Mohtarudin fixed bail at RM20,000 and ordered the prosecution to file its submissions on Oct 28.

Chan was represented by lawyer Wong Joon Wye while the prosecution was conducted by SSM officer Nurul Nabila Azmi.
