Fadil said police were now awaiting further instructions from the AGC.
“Investigations on all eight suspects arrested in the case are completed. We are waiting for further instructions from the AGC, and we have suggested charging them under the relevant sections,” he told a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters.
The probe papers were completed and sent to the deputy public prosecutor on Sept 17 but returned with several orders attached.
The commotion on Sept 11 erupted as the authorities were evicting residents from 37 houses, with 14 homeowners refusing to vacate their homes.
During a stand-off between the authorities and residents, Dang Wangi police chief Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman was struck on the head by an object flung by one of the protesters.
Eleven people, including Zaharuddin Muhammad, the Sungai Buloh PAS chief and son-in-law of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, were arrested in connection with the incident.
Police said then that seven of the suspects were not residents but leaders and members of an organisation.
Separately, Fadil said the police were prepared to ensure security at the PAS-organised mega rally against the Urban Renewal Bill, scheduled for 2pm tomorrow at Sogo KL.
He urged participants to comply with the rules and avoid disrupting public order, warning that the police would not hesitate to act if criminal elements were detected.
“Law enforcers are responsible for safeguarding the safety of all parties, including foreigners visiting the city. We respect the freedom to organise rallies and the right to expression.
“However, we also urge organisers to consider the safety of others, especially when gatherings are held in densely populated areas or areas with heavy traffic,” he added.
