Sumud Nusantara Command Centre (SNCC) director-general Sani Araby Abdul Alim said this was thanks to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Turkey president Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s joint efforts, Bernama reported.
“The SNCC expects that they will be flown out of Ashdod within 48 hours,” he said, adding that the Malaysians will be flown to either Ankara or Istanbul in Turkey.
Sani said the Turkish government will lead the effort to bring the Malaysians back home.
“(Anwar) himself had repeatedly contacted Erdogan, the Qatari president as well as the US,” he said.
Previously, the Israeli foreign ministry said the activists arrested on the mission ships will be deported to Europe, adding that all of the detained passengers were safe and in good health.
Earlier, Sani said five Malaysian volunteers with the GSF mission who did not complete the journey arrived home safely yesterday.
