Suriaghandi Suppiah appointed Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council CEO

Health minister Dzulkefly Ahmad announced that the selection and evaluation process for the appointment of Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council’s (MHTC) new CEO has officially concluded with the appointment of Suriaghandi Suppiah, effective Sept 29.

Dzulkefly said Suriaghandi’s leadership will strengthen efforts to attract international patients and enhance Malaysia’s reputation as a trusted destination for quality and affordable healthcare.

“Malaysia’s healthcare ecosystem continues to grow in strength, both domestically and internationally.

“With the upcoming Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism 2026, we are committed to positioning the nation as a global leader in healthcare tourism,” Bernama quoted him as saying in an MHTC statement.

MHTC said Suriaghandi’s career is marked by his ability to lead transformation initiatives, strengthen operations and drive sustainable growth across diverse sectors.

It said most recently, he served as healthcare adviser to EPF, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the fund’s healthcare investment strategy.

As a board member of the National Sports Council, Suriaghandi also led significant reforms and was instrumental in launching the Olympic sports development programme.

According to MHTC, Suriaghandi’s leadership journey spanned several senior roles, including as KPJ Healthcare Bhd group chief operating officer, consultant at Vamed Healthcare Services and the director of property management at Savills Malaysia.

“His impactful contributions also extend to Khazanah Nasional Bhd and Parkway Group Healthcare, where he championed strategic investments, business expansion and organisational transformation,” it said.
