The controversial Petaling Jaya Dispersal Link project, which was approved in September 2020, has been met with multiple protests by residents.
KUALA LUMPUR:
The High Court will hear an application by four Petaling Jaya residents to initiate contempt proceedings against a senior Selangor government officer on Dec 3.

T Chakaravarthi, Kum Koo Ji, S Saktiseelan, and Loke Yin Pong are seeking to cite the director of Selangor’s town and country planning department (PLANMalaysia Selangor) for contempt after he failed to comply with a court order to hand over key documents related to the proposed Petaling Jaya Dispersal (PJD) Link project.

In March, the court ordered the state government to hand over the social impact assessment, environment impact assessment, and traffic impact assessment reports on the PJD Link to the residents within 30 days.

It also instructed the state government to provide residents with the detailed design and alignment of the highway project.

The reports are under the director’s custody.

However, the residents said the Selangor government had yet to hand over these documents despite the one-month deadline.

Justice Amarjeet Singh set the hearing date for the residents’ contempt bid during case management today.

The court will also hear the state government’s application to suspend the March 23 ruling.

Assistant state legal adviser Siti Radziah Kamarudin informed the court that the state had filed an appeal against the decision.

The appeals court set Oct 23 for case management.

Lawyer Lim Wei Jiet appeared for the four residents.
