PETALING JAYA:
Selangor police have busted four drug trafficking syndicates after arresting three local men and two foreigners and seizing various types of drugs worth RM8.4 million following several raids.

The raids were carried out at KLIA2, Sabak Bernam, Kajang and Hulu Langat from Sept 23-26.

Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar said police seized a total of 106kg of drugs, comprising ketamine (63.7kg), ecstasy (27.7kg), cannabis (12.3kg) and methamphetamine (2.5kg), along with other confiscated items worth RM149,540.

He said in the first case, police arrested a local man who was behaving suspiciously while pulling a suitcase around KLIA2 on Sept 23.

“Checks on the 42-year-old suspect, who works with a construction contractor, led to the discovery of 12.3kg of cannabis. He was also found to have 16 previous criminal and drug-related records.

“He also tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine. The value of drugs seized in this case was RM432,000, believed to be intended for overseas shipment,” Bernama reported Shazeli as saying.

He said on the same day, police seized two plastic packages containing 26.5kg of ecstasy left inside a car in Bagan Sekinchan, Kuala Selangor, after pursuing a local man at about 7.30pm.

He said police later arrested the man in Wangsa Maju around 10.30pm on Sept 26.

“The suspect, who works as a deliveryman, has no prior records and tested negative for drugs. The drugs seized in this case were valued at RM4.3 million, in addition to a vehicle worth RM22,000 and various currencies amounting to RM540 that were also confiscated,” he said.

Shazeli said the third case involved the seizure of 47kg of ketamine on Sept 24 after police arrested two foreign men while they were transferring two bags from a house to a car at an apartment complex in Kajang.

He said checks at the suspects’ rented house uncovered 2kg of ecstasy, which then led to inspection of a car parked in the same area where police found another 16.7kg of ketamine, with the total estimated value of the seizure amounting to RM3.5 million.

Shazeli said the suspects, aged 35 and 36, who had no travel documents, were believed to have entered the country solely to work with a drug syndicate.

“This raid also saw five cars worth about RM127,000 seized, and we believe the drugs were meant for the Klang Valley market,” he said.

On Sept 26, police arrested an unemployed local man, aged 25, in Hulu Langat after discovering a package containing 2.5kg of methamphetamine hidden inside a motorcycle exhaust pipe.

He said the man was believed to have sent the package for overseas delivery, with the value of drugs in this case amounting to RM80,000.

The suspect was also found to have two prior records and tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine use.

“All the suspects were remanded between seven and 14 days, and the cases are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 (for drug trafficking),” he said.
