PETALING JAYA:
Police have arrested a teenage boy after a video of him performing a dangerous stunt while riding a motorcycle on the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge in Penang went viral on social media.

Seberang Perai Selatan police chief Jay January Siowou said a report was lodged after the video of the motorcyclist, riding from Batu Maung towards Batu Kawan, was posted on Facebook.

“The suspect has been detained along with the motorcycle used for further investigation.

“A urine test came back negative for drugs,” he said in a statement.

In the 20-second video, the 14-year-old boy is seen riding with his legs lifted, lying flat on the motorcycle, and his head lowered, performing what appeared to be the “Superman” stunt.

The incident, recorded by a passenger in a car, is believed to have taken place on Monday.

“Such actions not only endangered his own safety but also posed serious risks to other road users,” Jay said.

The district police headquarters’ traffic investigation and enforcement division tracked down the motorcyclist, who surrendered himself at 10.30pm yesterday.

The case is being investigated for reckless and dangerous riding.

Police are also tracking down several other motorcyclists believed to be involved in the incident.
