PETALING JAYA:
Cyberjaya Hospital has denied barring a woman from visiting a patient last month for wearing a sleeveless top, which ran afoul of dress code guidelines in public health facilities.

The hospital said the woman, who claimed on social media that she was denied entry, was still allowed to visit her family member at the facility at its discretion.

“The visitor was not denied her right to visit the patient but was advised by security personnel regarding compliance with the guidelines,” it said in a statement today.

It said the dress code was in place so that the hospital environment was respectful, conducive, and comfortable for all patients, staff and visitors.

“These basic guidelines are standard practice at most public healthcare facilities,” it said.

The hospital also maintained that patients were exempted from this dress code, and that they would not be denied treatment regardless of the circumstance, especially in emergencies.

It said it was committed to providing friendly and professional healthcare services in line with the health ministry’s goal of ensuring the people’s wellbeing.

Last week, a woman claimed she was barred from entering Cyberjaya Hospital to visit her brother for wearing a sleeveless top.

She said two female security guards initially told her about the dress code violation, but she brushed them off and insisted on visiting the patient.

She further claimed that she was only given five minutes to spend with her brother.
