Finance minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan said the budget was calibrated in alignment with the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) and Madani Economy framework.
“The budget’s main focus this time includes ensuring that the housing, education and health sectors are strengthened to improve the people’s quality of life.
“This is the first year of the 13MP, so we want its important elements to translate into the 2026 budget,” he said after launching the Economic and Public Finance Week 2025 here today.
Amir said these reforms were also part of the government’s agenda to strengthen national development and catapult the nation into high-income status by 2030.
“We hope that public quality of life will be elevated and the government administration tightened for the more effective delivery of services,” he said.
Amir also expressed optimism that Malaysia was on the right track, having recorded a 4.4% growth in gross domestic product in the first half of the year, and maintained inflation at 1.3% compared with 1.9% last year.
