The condition of Ammar Badrul, seven, who has been placed on a ventilator, is being closely monitored.
In a Facebook post today, his father, Badrul Remli, 31, asked the public to pray for a miracle for his child.
“Assalamualaikum, friends, this is my child who was beaten in Jelawat, Bachok, two days ago. Seeking your kindness to pray for my eldest child to have all matters facilitated. He is in a critical condition and the bleeding in the head is non-stop.
“Hopefully, all your prayerrs will work a miracle for my son,” he said.
Badrul said he received a call at 4.30pm yesterday from his sister informing him that Ammar had been hit with a hammer.
He said that upon arriving at the house, he found his son covered in blood and lying in a room.
“The doctor informed us that Ammar’s condition is 50-50 (critical). When I saw him, there was a slight movement of his head as if he wanted to ask for help,” he said.
Yesterday, the uncle suspected of beating Ammar was found dead near Pantai Melawi in Bachok.
Following that, police arrested the child’s aunt to assist in the investigation.
