
He said MACC’s Sabah office would probe the claims in the video, reportedly made by businessman Albert Tei.
“I have also instructed that both individuals involved be called to give their statements.
“MACC will work to conclude this probe as quickly as possible, with the utmost diligence and integrity,” he was quoted as saying by Berita Harian.
Yesterday, Malaysiakini revealed a video allegedly showing the senior Sabah leader in a conversation with Tei about the payment made by the businessman, involving more than RM1 million.
Azam urged the public to remain patient and allow MACC the space to conduct a thorough and professional investigation.
He said that unfounded speculation would only disrupt the process and erode public confidence in the country’s anti-graft efforts.
“MACC is committed to carrying out its duties independently, transparently, and in full accordance with the law to ensure that justice is upheld,” he said.
