PETALING JAYA:
A Gabungan Rakyat Sabah leader has hit out at Warisan president Shafie Apdal for claiming that state government funds were being spent on attacking his party in the run-up to the Sabah state election.

“Shafie and Warisan should look in the mirror,” said GRS information chief Joniston Bangkuai.

He said Warisan was attempting to paint the ruling coalition as a failed government, despite its achievements.

Joniston said the government’s success included increasing the state’s revenue and reserves to RM6.9 billion and over RM8 billion, respectively, after coming to power in 2020.

He also said hundreds of millions of ringgit were being channelled to numerous initiatives for the people, especially the needy.

“It is a known fact that GRS is a lot better than the Shafie-led Warisan government,” he told FMT.

Shafie was reported by Malaysiakini as alleging that Warisan’s political rivals were spending millions of ringgit on an online smear campaign.

He claimed that some RM8 million had been set aside for such a purpose.

Asked if GRS would take legal action against Shafie, Joniston said: “We will let the rakyat judge them”.
