Unemployed man charged with murdering father

PETALING JAYA:
An unemployed man was charged in the Kuala Lumpur magistrates’ court today with the murder of his father.

Iznan Syahir Tasnim, 25, nodded when the charge was read out to him before magistrate S Arunjothy, Berita Harian reported.

No plea was recorded as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Iznan Syahir was accused of murdering Tasnim Nurdin, 62, at an apartment unit in Bander Seri Permaisuri, Cheras at 3.01am on Sept 13.

The charge was framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a death penalty or 30 to 40 years’ imprisonment and at least 12 strokes of the rotan, upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Nadia Eleena Jamaluddin Akbal appeared for the prosecution while Iznan Syahir was unrepresented.

The court set Dec 11 for next mention of the case.
