‘New’ Indonesian pair knock Sze Fei-Izzuddin out of China Masters

The world No 3 pair were outplayed by the 76th ranked Fajar Alfian-Shohibul Fikri, who teamed up only two months ago.

World No 3 men’s doubles shuttlers Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani, who had been struggling in the first two rounds of the China Masters, were shown the exit by Indonesians Fajar Alfian-Shohibul Fikri, ranked No 76, in the quarter-finals today.

The Indonesians, who were tried out as a new combination only two months ago, were in complete control of the match, winning 21-16, 21-11 in just 34 minutes at the Shenzhen Arena.

Sze Fei-Izzuddin have only reached two finals this year, winning one of them – the India Open – in January. Their early exits this season included two first-round defeats.

As quarter-finalists, however, they will take home US$4,062 (RM17,021).
