Senior citizen in Pangkor found dead after alleged fight

Police arrest a 73-year-old suspect after the discovery of the body.

PETALING JAYA:
A senior citizen was found dead at about 1.45pm yesterday after a suspected fight with his friend at a house in Sungai Pinang Kecil, Pangkor.

Manjung police chief Hasbullah Abd Rahman said police received a report about the incident involving the 73-year-old victim at 2pm.

“Investigations found that the victim sustained severe head injuries and was unconscious. He was confirmed dead at 1.45pm by medical personnel,” Bernama reported him as saying today.

Based on public information, Hasbullah said they arrested a 73-year-old man, believed to be the main suspect in the case, in front of an eatery in Sungai Pinang Kecil at 2pm on the same day.

He said the Seri Manjung magistrates’ court allowed police to remand the suspect for seven days to assist in investigations.

The victim’s body has been sent to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for a post-mortem. The motive for the killing is still under investigation.
