
Ipoh police chief Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said a forensic examination indicated that the man died of injuries caused by a blunt object.
“Investigations have confirmed that the victim is an adult male, but his identity has yet to be ascertained,” he told reporters, today.
A 28-year-old local resident discovered the large bundle of clothes lodged against a tree trunk by the river bank close to the Orang Asli cemetery in Kampung Kerawat, by the Simpang Pulai-Cameron Highlands road.
The police forensic unit confirmed the bundle contained human remains.
Another body of a man found in stream
The body of an unidentified man was found lying face down in a stream in the Air Rengat area of Temenggor, near Gerik, in Perak this morning.
Gerik police chief Samad Othman said they were alerted to the discovery by the Tenaga Nasional auxiliary police in Temenggor.
“A 32-year-old Orang Asli man saw the body in the river at about 8.25am while passing through the area. He then went to Pengkalan Trojan to report the incident to the TNB auxiliary police,” he said in a statement today.
No identification documents were found on the victim. The body has been sent to Gerik Hospital for a post-mortem.
