PETALING JAYA:
A reported abduction attempt turned out to be just an excuse by a boy not to attend school.

Police said the 13-year-old boy used that excuse to skip school after his shoes were stained with cat faeces.

Shah Alam police chief Iqbal Ibrahim said the boy had lodged a report at 9.22am today on the attempted abduction.

“The victim told his 37-year-old father of the alleged incident. They went to the Shah Alam criminal investigation division’s office to give their statement.

“However, when questioned, the victim admitted the truth,” he said in a statement.

Iqbal said police had issued a stern warning to both the boy and his father.

He advised the public not to make false reports.

Offenders can be charged under Section 182 of the Penal Code which provides for up to six months’ imprisonment, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both.
