In a statement posted on X, the embassy advised Malaysians in the affected areas to follow instructions from local authorities, stay informed through credible news sources, and avoid unnecessary travel.

“Follow instructions from local authorities and pay close attention to all official announcements and emergency broadcasts. Stay informed and monitor credible local news sources for updates on the situation.

“Prioritise your safety and avoid unnecessary travel, and stay in safe locations,” it said.

Polish prime minister Donald Tusk announced that Poland would fully close its border with Belarus, including railway crossings, starting at midnight on Thursday for national security reasons.

The Polish Press Agency reported that the move will affect all border crossings.

Belarus has responded by protesting the decision as it coincides with Russia-Belarus military drills.
