PETALING JAYA:
The Bersatu annual general assembly has unanimously resolved to nominate party president Muhyiddin Yassin as its prime minister candidate, says secretary-general Azmin Ali.

The delegates also resolved to fully support Muhyiddin as party president, Azmin said in a short statement this evening.

The party’s support for its president comes hours after a minor commotion broke out as Muhyiddin revealed in his presidential address that certain party members had been collecting signatures to oust him.

While a small group heckled him, the majority of delegates chanted “Hidup Tan Sri” in support of Muhyiddin.

Azmin said about 20 delegates took part in the debate on three resolutions.

“They examined issues including the cost of living, global and regional economy, public unity and current political issues. The delegates are determined to continue working hard on the ground and increase the competency of the party’s election machinery,” he said.
